Julio Vaquerano, 36, of Everett was apparently struck and killed by a vehicle near to the intersection of Blossom and Maple Streets shortly after 10:00 p.m. Tuesday night, Chelsea Police reported.

The car involved in the collision allegedly fled the scene, witnesses claimed.

Police said they responded to a 911 call of a person struck by a car at 10:09 p.m.

First responders found Vaquerano lying on the street and suffering from major trauma and a serious head injury.

Paramedics worked intensely at the scene to stabilize the victim, who was rushed to the Massachusetts General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators piecing together what may have occurred apparently found one of Vaquerano’s sneakers on the street and other bits of clothing he had been wearing indicating that the impact of the car hitting him was intense.

Police are believed to be running down tips but are specifically searching for a dark colored motor vehicle with front end damage.

Anyone with information regarding this tragic incident should call the Chelsea Police Department.
