Homegoods Opens with Large Crowd

Chelsea resident Liz Joyce found what she needed at the newly opened HomeGoods in Demoulas’s Mall.

Chelsea’s HomeGoods store opened Sunday at the Demoulas’s Mall.

A large crowd of shoppers attended the event, which featured good old fashioned shopping for much of the day.

“This is one more sure sign that we are moving ahead with development plans that will change this mall in the years to come,” said City Manager Jay Ash.

“HomeGoods has put together a great looking store,” he added.

The new store brings almost 80 new jobs into the Chelsea community.

It also marks a moment in the city’s modern history when a major store offering home goods and furnishings has opened its doors.

The new 25,000 square foot store is owned by T.J. Maxx and is part of the TJX Companies.

Home Goods now has 27 stores in the Greater Boston retailing marketplace.

As part of the recent opening of the new store, HomeGoods is offering rewards cards for shoppers seeking that extra kick for their dollar.

In addition, the Chelsea store is stocked with rugs, furniture, accessories, plates, lamps, bathroom necessities, blankets and  a full array of home goods.
