Shown at the 2011 Chelsea reunion in Florida are Elaine Sevinor, Charlotte Bagard Levine, Gertrude “Gittie” Appleman Seltzer, and Marvin Cashman.

Leona Grell is one of Chelsea’s most well-known and beloved citizens.

Known for her great work with the Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home, Grell was recognized by city officials at the All-Chelsea Awards ceremony.

Grell is busy these days planning a very special event for Chelsea residents. It’s the Grand Chelsea Reunion in Florida and Grell says the gala celebration is scheduled for Sunday, March 4, 2012 at Benevento’s in Boynton Beach.

Three hundred and twenty people attended the 26th annual reunion held last year in Florida.

“No one wanted to leave the last reunion,” said Grell. “And as everyone left the hall, they were chanting, ‘See you at the 27th’ and they all had a smile on their face.”

Grell has labeled this event, ‘The Second of the Next 25 Years.”

“I’m expecting another great turnout especially from ‘the younger people,’” said Grell. “It’s always a wonderful day when Chelsea people get together and you can beat the Florida weather. I’ll see you at the 27th.”

All current and former Chelsea residents, those who attended school in Chelsea, and even those who want to be honorary Chelseans for a day are welcomed to join Leona and friends at the reunion.
