Applications Now Being Accepted for Highland Terrace

Work on the new Highland Terrace apartments in the Box District is rapidly coming to a close according to officials at The Neighborhood Developers (TND), and with that in mind applications for those new units are now being accepted.

“We’ve got a few more months until we’re finished and we targeted our completion on Dec. 27th,” said Emily Loomis of TND. “The units will be available on Jan. 1st. The applications for those units are now available and will be due on Oct. 8th. All potential applications are encouraged to apply. Those applications will be entered into a lottery. We’ll start opening the applications to do the full qualification and income certification process. Households will be contacted if eligible and will enter into a lease and be ready to move in on New Year’s Day.”

There are 32 brand new units in the project – with four three-bedrooms, 24 two-bedrooms and four one-bedrooms.

“What’s really exciting about the development is that every unit has an individual entrance from the street so they are very private,” said Loomis. “Many also have a balcony with views of the new Box District Park.”

The development also has an on-site laundry facility, off-street parking, a community room and computer availability.

She said that the income restrictions on the units – as it is a taxpayer subsidized development – are very wide. In fact, a family of four can make up to $58,000 per year and still qualify.

“It really does serve a wide range of incomes,” she said.

Applications are available online at www.tnd.org. For those who wish to get paper applications, they can be had by visiting the TND headquarters at 4 Gerrish Ave.

Applications must be in by Oct. 8th to get first preference in the process.
