Florence Lorraine Noveska

Former Nurse’s Aide at Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home

Florence Lorraine (Orchard) Noveska passed away on March 10 at home in Portsmouth, NH. She was 82 years old.

Born in East Boston, the daughter of the late Alfred V. and Elsie J. (Hathaway) Orchard, she was raised in Chelsea, attended Chelsea Public Schools and graduated from Chelsea High School, Class of 1949.

In 2005, she was pre-deceased by her late husband, Walter J. Noveska. Together they had lived in Chelsea where Florence cared for her family and home. Once her children were grown, Florence worked as a nurse’s aide at the Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home. She was a lifelong resident of Chelsea, prior to moving to New Hampshire to be closer to her children and grandchildren. Florence was a member of the Polish Political Club of Chelsea. She was also active in the bingo circles of Chelsea and  enjoyed spending her free time playing cards and gambling at the casinos. She will be greatly missed by all of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and friends.

She was the beloved mother of Hugh McCauley of Exeter, NH, Stanley Noveska and Walter Noveska, Jr., both of Portsmouth, NH, Patricia Dovich of Londonderry, NH, Charlene Ford of Exeter, NH and the late Edward J. McCauley, Daniel J. McCauley and Theresa McCauley; the sister of the late Ruth Solar, Richard Orchard, Evelyn Morabito, Barbara Chapman and Alfred F. Orchard. She is also lovingly survived by 12 grandchildren: Paul Michael, Michele, Stephen, Jennifer, Christopher, Danny, Travis, Hope, Summer, Sophia, Briana, Vance, and nine great grandchildren, Kylie, Cameren, Avery, Aiden, Cailen, Myleigh, Brooke, Emily, Ashley.

Funeral arrangements were by the William R. Carafa & Son Home For Funerals, Chelsea. A Holy Eucharist Service at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Chelsea was followed by interment at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett.

Louis Dondero, Jr.

Revere Educator

Louis P. Dondero, Jr. of Revere died on March 2 surrounded by his family.

Louis was a graduate of Revere High School, received a B.S. from Presbyterian College in South Carolina and an M.S. in Education from Suffolk University. He was an educator in the Revere School System for many years before retiring in 1991. He also served his country during the Korean Conflict in the US Army.

Born in Chelsea, the son of the late Louis P. and Adeline (DiPesa), he was the beloved husband for 53 yrs of Bernice (Hurley); devoted father of Lisa Brengola and her husband,, Andrew of Lynnfield; cherished grandfather of Alissa Louise; dear brother of Thelma DeLeo of Winchester; son of the late Louis and Adeline (DiPesa) and is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
