MURDERED CHELSEA MAN ID’D
The Chelsea man who died last weekend of injuries he suffered in an apparent drive-by shooting on Congress Avenue last week has been identified as Eduardo Troche, 37, Chelsea Police Chief Brian Kyes and Suffolk District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.
Chelsea Police detectives and the Suffolk County State Police Detective Unit have been investigating the shooting since Wednesday evening, when the city’s ShotSpotter system detected multiple gunshots at about 7:45 pm. Investigators continue to urge anyone with information on the incident, including people or vehicles in the area of Congress Avenue near Shawmut Street at about that time, to share their knowledge with police.
Troche and a young woman were rushed to Massachusetts General Hospital following the shooting. Troche succumbed to his injuries on Saturday night. The female victim is recovering from her injuries and expected to survive.

FORGOT THEIR CELL PHONE
On Sept. 25, at 11:12 p.m., officers responded to the Broadway side of City Hall on a report of an assault. On scene officers observed two victims. One was seriously injured with severe lacerations and facial injuries. One victim identified both suspects as their attackers. While investigating, both suspects returned to the scene to retrieve a dropped cellphone and were placed under arrest. A pipe was recovered by officers.
Ricardo Rodriguez, 29, of 45 Fourth St., and Brandon Rivas, 22, of 155 Chestnut St., were both charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, mayhem, disorderly conduct, conspiracy and two counts of assault and battery.
CAUGHT IN DRUG TRANSACTION
On Sept. 28 at 10 a.m. members of the Chelsea Police Narcotics Unit were conducting surveillance in the area of Chestnut Street and Fifth Street when the investigators observed two suspects known to them from previous arrests engaged in a drug transaction with a third party. They placed the two under arrest and seized narcotics and US currency. The third party was released on scene after a warrant check on that subject came back with negative results.
A 15-year-old Chelsea juvenile was charged distribution of a Class B drug, school violation, and conspiracy.
Hector Lopez, 38, of 88 Williams St., was charged with possession to distribute Class B (subsequent), school violation, conspiracy and contributing to the delinquency of a child.
DANGEROUS WEAPON
On Sept. 30, at 1:30 a.m., a CPD officer was stopped at a red light at the intersection of Broadway and Cary Avenue. At that time, the officer heard loud yelling, and observed two parties pointing and yelling at each other. As the officer tried to ascertain what was going on, one of the two walked away. The officer requested the subject to stop and return. As he did, the officer observed a knife sticking out from the party’s belt line.
The suspect became uncooperative and refused to provide his name and was placed into custody. It was later determined the he had warrants for other charges after officers positively identified him.
Marvin Hernandez, 32, of 73 Clark Ave., was charged with disorderly conduct, carrying a dangerous weapon, furnishing a false name, and two warrants.
SALVADORAN MAN DEPORTED AGAIN
A Salvadoran national was charged last week in federal court in Boston with a federal immigration crime.
Gerardo Alberto Perez-Fuentes, 22, was indicted on one count of unlawful reentry of a deported alien. Perez-Fuentes was previously deported on Oct. 8, 2015. On Sept. 6, law enforcement in Chelsea encountered Perez-Fuentes and determined him to be illegally present in the United States.
The charge provides for a sentence of no greater than 10 years in prison, three year of supervised release, and a fine of $250,000. Perez-Fuentes will be subject to deportation upon completion of his sentence. Sentences are imposed by a federal district court judge based upon the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.
